I apologize about the graininess of the picture above. I took it with an old phone with a bad camera and it was stored in my Dropbox. I'm posting it because today is my friend, Mireya's birthday. Here she is with Sam and me. And I wish her the best!!

Today, in The Highland Room, out in The Great Hall of TheCypressBuilding.com, I'm featuring one of my very favorite Opera stars, German born Jonas Kaufman. He has a beautiful resonance to his voice and a great presentaton. He's singing "Parla Piu Piano". You and I know it better as The Godfather Theme. It's great! And, across the hall in The Peachtree Room, here at TheCypressBuilding.com, I'm featuring another wonderful poem read by the great Indian motivational speaker, Simerjeet Singh. He's reading a poem by my very favortite American poet, Edgar Albert Guest and it's titled: "Have you earned your tomorrow?" Be sure to hear it. You'll be glad you did.

And speaking of Edgar Albert Guest, here is another great work of his:

BROTHERS ALL

We're brothers all, whate'er the place

Brothers whether in rags or lace,

Brothers all by the good Lord's grace,

Some may sit in a royal hall,

Some may dwell where the rooms are small,

But under the skin, we are brothers all.

Some may toil 'neath the burning sun

Some may dream where the waters run,

But we're brothers all when the day is done.

By the sun that shines and the rains that fall,

By the shadows flung on the garden wall,

By the good Lord's grace, we are brothers all.

By the hurt that comes and the falling tear,

By the common grief at the silent bier,

And the grave that awaits,

We are brothers here.

Thursday was spent leisurely at home, organizing pictures and papers in my den. I needed a container to put a certain group of papers in so I went down to Old Time Pottery where I bought a beautiful box that looks like a large book. It will fit nicely in my bookcase. And while I was there, I picked up a nice little side table to go next to my recliner. David went out and got us two delicious chicken dinners, complete with fries and Texas bread and we had a wonderful feast. Tomorrow, we're having a Thanksgiving dinner here at our apartment complex for all of the residents. It's a pot luck and so we are contributing deviled eggs.
