Today, in The Highland Room, out in The Great Hall, I'm featuring one of my very favorite singers and performers: Dame Shirley Bassey. And she is in concert performing at the Electric Proms in 2009. In this peformance she was 72. Wow! I wouldn't have believed it. Do be sure to click over and hear her. You'll love it. And, in The Peachtree Room, there is a great thought as written by American's poet, Edgar Albert Guest. It's called "Life is what we make of it". I love it. You will too!!
Rosie called me and wants me to come to dinner on Wednesday. She's having my favorite, meatloaf. How could I say no. And I talked with Hugh. He says it's raining cats and dogs up where he is. He sent me a copy of his latest story and a link to a private site he shares with other writers. So I went there and enjoyed a number of his stories (that I hadn't already read) and some from other writers on that site as well.
I have my gorgeous orchestral music in the background as I write this. If you spend much time online, you should open another window and click on this link and then open back up what you were previously doing. You'll have gorgeous music in the background as you browse.
Oh how disturbed I am! It concerns me greatly the trend of people bad mouthing policemen and making them out to be like the secret police of the cold war. Policemen are only human. And if we don't watch it, we are going to find ourselves in a position where we don't have enough police to protect us from all the thugs and criminals. Who wants to be berated day in and day out simply for doing their jobs. Sure, there are some bad apples, but when we start saying that the whole barrel is rotten, we are going to live to regret it. It concerns me greatly. We aren't looking past the end of our noses on this one.
I already don't watch the news or regular televison because of all the negativity and slanted news but a video popped up on Facebook showing a thug berating the police, calling them HIS servants and of course, he was filming it so he could stream it live. It turns out he had an outstanding warrent (you don't say!) and was arrested. These cops face the worst of the worst everyday and we expect them to just stand there and not react. What are we thinking. If we want a civil and safe society, they are the LAST people we should be berating.
As I step down from my soapbox, I wish you a GREAT day.
